Welcome back. We have a lot to get through this term, so I hope you guys are ready to get stuck into Japanese. We will have a major project due this term that utilises video and our blog. Also, we will have the usual grammar, vocabulary and kanji work to get through.

This term, I expect everyone to be on time to class, with all of their work with them. Also, keep your work together, in one place like a folder and keep it neat. We need to go back to our notes constantly guys, so if you can keep a trail of notes and helpful hints, it makes it much easier when we get to tests or exams.

All work we do in class will be catalogued on this site under the link “year 10″ at the top right of this page. Check each week, comment and download any work that you are missing.

I look forward to seeing you all in class.

Welcome back to school for term 3, 2010. I hope everyone had a great break. The website has changed, and I will be updating it every week. All content that we discuss will end up here. So, if you lose some notes (you know, you really should stick it in your book when I give it out!), you will find them here along with links, audio, video, keynotes etc… The content will be filed weekly under the “year 9″ link at the top right of this page.

This term, I expect that everyone comes to class prepared and ready to learn. Don’t leave books in your lockers or at home or on the bus or at your cousin’s brother’s girlfriend’s aunt’s house. BRING YOUR STUFF.

OK, I got that off my chest, see you guys in class.

Welcome back to school for term 3, 2010. I hope you guys have had a great break and that you are are fresh and ready to come back to school. We will have a lot of things going on this term in Japanese including an excursion, projects, podcasts (yes, they are back and Mina is ready to help out), and more of the general craziness that we are accustomed to. Hey, I will even throw in a few of those cool Japanese commercials / gags that give us a break during lessons.

This term, you will find information in the form of posts in this section of my website. However, specific language content, cultural notes, lesson notes and homework will be found catalogued weekly under the “YEAR 8″ link at the top right of this page. You will need to go here weekly to make sure you have all of the information required to get through the course.

So guys, it would be good if you could come each lesson prepared and ready to go. No more; “Hey Mr. Nesbitt, I forgot to bring my book!” or “Sensei, I think my dog ate my assignment!”. Yeah yeah, come on, I have heard all of these excuses before. If you really have an excuse, it better be a good one! :P

See you in class.

はじめまして。

Hi everyone. As you can see, we have a whole new layout for term 3. This site is not only for school, but for myself, so you may often see posts in this “blog” section that don’t have much to do with our school work. However, at the top you will see menus that take you to your specific year.

As some of you know, I am currently studying the new N3 test of the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test). Previously, there were 4 levels for the JLPT, but as of 2010, there are 5 tests. N1 is still the highest level, and N5 is now basically the old level 4 test. N4 is the old level 3 test and the new N3 is somewhere between the old levels 2 and 3. Many people complained that the jump from level 3 to 2 in the old test was just too difficult, so they have revised their test structure. This year, I will be studying for the N3 test, so I will discuss the books I use and how I go about my study.

Student pages are found along the top broken down into the year levels I teach and then further broken down into the term and week that we are currently in. It will be awhile until all the relevant content is up, but due to time constraints with work, photography & video business, personal travel and personal study, I simply don’t have the time to get everything up all at once.
